Pluto Enters Capricorn
2008 - 2024
As god of the underworld, Pluto is the force that brings out problems through a crisis. We are put to the test. The sign that Pluto moves through indicates what areas will be put to that test. Capricorn corresponds to government, the rules and stuctures of a society.The force of Pluto is beyond human control. We can't rationalize or tame this powerful force that brings radical change to our lives.
Like a sleeping volcano that awakens and erupts, its violent ourburst brings destruction. It is a transforming force which confronts us and through which change rises out of the ashes. Sometimes only a great crisis or shocking experience can break through an entrenched way of being or attitude. Life gives us such a blow that we come face to face with the reality that we must go through it and cannot go back. The landscape is permanently changed.
Pluto in Capricorn is not in a passive sign. It wants to reorganize the system. We have now entered an 18 year period in which it will be necessary for us to act and implement changes to the very foundation and structures of society, government and our way of life.
Chiron is a planetary body that came into our solar system from deep space. It is called "a Maverick" by scientists because they are not clear if it is a comet, an asteroid or a planet. They say it is a foreigner and not from our solar system. It orbits between Saturn and Uranus. It symbolizes a higher frequency coming to us from deep in the galaxy, and as it orbits between Saturn (limits) and Uranus (progressive experimentation) it acts like a bridge to bring us up to a higher level of operating, thinking, understanding.
It is called "The Wounded Healer", and both wounding AND healing events come through Chiron. Chiron wounds or heals in the sign that it transits through. Generally, the problems that occur while it is in a particular sign, lead to awarenesss and change. It has 51 year orbit before it returns to a sign.
Chiron has been in the sign of Aquarius since January 2006 - 2011. Aquarius stands for equality, human rights, and freedom. The last time it was in this sign were the years 1955-1960. A time when, as a nation we had emerged from 4 years of McCarthy Era anti-Communist activity. The McCarthy Era occurred while Chiron was in the sign of Capricorn, which represents the government, aurthority and control. In 2006 we have just emerged from a similar experience.
Senator McCarthy and his commision wielded tremendous power and control over the citizens of this country. They ruined lives and careers by accusing them of being Communists. WE GAVE OVER OUR AUTHORITY AND FREEDOM TO THE GOVERNMENT IN ORDER TO FEEL "SAFE" FROM THE THREAT OF COMMUNISM.
COMMUNISM HAS BEEN REPLACED BY TERRORISM
We recently emerged from an intense 4 year period of Chiron in Capricorn during December 2001 through 2006. The threat of terrorism after September 11, 2001 brought about our GIVING UP FREEDOMS AND AUTHORITY OVER OUR LIVES due to the threat of terrorism.
Going back to the last time Chiron was in Aquarius 1955-60, we emerged from the authoritarian control of the McCarthy era which brought up issues of FREEDOM, CIVIL RIGHTS AND EQUALITY.
Racial integration was at the forefront our awareness. Marches and violence ensued until integration of schools first began in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Kennedy was elected in 1960 bringing renewed hope to the nation as someone charismatic and intelligent became president. It was also a MAJOR FIRST. hE WAS THE FIRST CATHOLIC EVER ELECTED PRESIDENT. The events during the time Chiron was in Aquarius 1955-60 were centered around the Civil Rights Movement when people began to value the rights of individuals. Average citizens had come together to bring about changes through grassroots organizations, working together for a cause.
In 1961 President Kennedy created the Peace Corp, which emerged out of the events during the time Chiron was in Aquarius. It brought people together from all races and nationalities, changing lives.
President-Elect Obama has called for a NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE, promoting volunteerism and community service to help our country and bring us together as a people.
This is Chiron's role as it moves through Aquarius, the wounds begin to heal and we remember that each one of us is connected to something much larger than ourselves.
