THE SATURN - PLUTO TIMELINE
A look at the present Saturn-Pluto cycle will provide a framework in which we can better understand the upcoming square in late 2009.
The current cycle began in 1983 with Saturn conjunct Pluto. This indicated it was a time to tear down old structures or rennovate them.
1983/84 Saturn conjunct Pluto
- Vatican II signed into effect,
restructuring Catholic Church
- Bell Systems telecommunications
conglomerate broken up
- Sally Ride, first woman astronaut
in US history goes up in space as
part of Challenger crew.
1984 - Democrats nominate the first woman for VP, Geraldine Ferraro.
-300 Sihks are killed as Indian army occupies their Golden Temple
- Indira Ghandi assasinated by her Sikh bodyguards
- Union Carbide plant leaks toxic gas in Bhopal, India. Kills 2,000 and injures 150,000 people
1993 - Saturn square Pluto
The square is energy that is strongly assertive, takes action.

-Revolt in Russian Parliament
Canada's Liberal Party regains power in a landslide victory.
-NAFTA approved by Congress (affecting US jobs & auto industry)

Saturn opposes Pluto
The opposition period is a time when we are challenged by something from the outside to bring about some new awareness. The cycle peaks, it is a time to be open to feedback and integrate ourselves with others.
Sept. 11th 2002 -
The world Trade Center attack, a turning point in world history.
As a comparison, the last time that Saturn opposed Pluto was 1965.
This was the year of massive civil rights protests led by MLK. President Johnson ordered increased bombing and more troops in Vietnam.
Another time that Saturn opposed Pluto was 1768 the time Amercian colonists were protesting laws and taxes England imposed upon them. This led to the American Revolution and in 1776, independence.
Saturn and Pluto reached the last quarter square in 1777, the first challenging year of America as an independent nation.
Nov. 2009 - Saturn Square Pluto
The Last Quarter Square of the cycle begun in 1983.
This will be a Cardinal Square, Saturn in Libra & Pluto in Capricorn. Uranus will also square Pluto and Saturn. This is simialr to the configuration present during the Great Depression.
We may find it difficult to make the changes we would like in the world around us. We struggle against forces holding us back. It will be a very challenging time.
