Depth Astrology was founded in 2000 by Atma Devi, an experienced astrologer who has a vision of creating a theraputic experience that will touch body, mind, and spirit.

Atma’s education began with her grandmother,

who was her mentor and first teacher.

Helen was a healer, herbalist and Tarot

reader, as well as an honorary member of the

Seneca tribe. She believed in the continuity of

life, karma, and individual responsibility. People

from all walks of life came to their home for

readings and healing sessions. Growing up in

such an environment, Atma came to understand

the presence of the unseen forces that

can affect our lives.

 

In the early part of the 1970s, Atma lived

in Teopoztlán, México, where she studied with

a native curandera. She later worked as an

assistant to Dr. James Gong, a doctor of Oriental

medicine, and began studying Dane Rudyar’s

system of holistic astrology. During her 22-year

marriage, she managed a natural food store

and grew a biodynamic garden. Her practice of

an ancient method of meditation taught by

Ishaya monks ultimately had a profound effect

on her life. In 1996 she left her marriage and

spent several months in cloister at the Ishaya

monastery in the mountains of North Carolina.

Atma’s ongoing interest in astrology eventually

led her to enroll in Jeffrey Wolf Green’s

School of Evolutionary Astrology. She has

studied Jungian psychology and history, and

participates in a local Jungian group. Atma

lives and practices in northern New Mexico,

where she also teaches astrology. She is a member of the
 
International Society for Astrological Research.
